1. Surah Fatiha.
The first surah in the holy Quran, and we’re obligated to read it in every prayer. While reading the surah we ask Allah for his guidance and to guide us to the right path. We learn from it to praise and thank Allah for everything we have. It also reminds us of the day of judgment.
Surah al-Fatiha is one of the most significant surahs, it’s the best surah in Quran for health and getting better. It consists of only seven verses that create miracles. Here are the verses of the surah in English:
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ١”
In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
All praise is for Allah—Lord of all worlds,
the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
Master of the Day of Judgment.
You ˹alone˺ we worship and You ˹alone˺ we ask for help.
Guide us along the Straight Path,
the Path of those You have blessed—not those You are displeased with, or those who are astray.”
Surah Al-Fatiha is also as Al-Hamd (The Praise), As-Salah (The Prayer), Umm al-Kitab (Mother of the Book), Umm al-Quran (Mother of the Quran), Sab’a min al-Mathani (Seven Repeated Ones, from Quran and Ash-Shifa’ (The Cure).
One of its names is the cure, which shows that it’s the best surah for illness. For better health and to get better recite surah Fatiha. But the most important is to believe that Allah will cure you.
2. Surah Baqarah
The longest surah of the holy Quran with 286 verses that carries many benefits and virtues to its reader. Surah Baqarah is the best surah for health, it cures any type of disease, heals depression and distress, and makes the anxiety go away. I know it’s a long surah but you don’t have to recite it all at once, divide it into smaller parts and read it any time of the day.
3. Ayat ul-Kursi.
Verse number 255 of surah Al-Baqarah protects its reader from black magic, and evil eye, and cures illness. The verse says:
“Allah! There is no god [worthy of worship] except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could possibly intercede with Him without His permission? He [fully] knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge—except what He wills [to reveal]. His Seat encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is the Most High, the Greatest.”
Abu Huraira narrated that our Holy Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said: “do not make your houses as graveyards. Satan runs away from the house in which Surah Baqarah is recited.” (Muslim 4:1707)
The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said: “whoever read ayat al Kursi, and the last three ayat of surah al-Baqarah, Allah will protect him and his wealth from devils.”
Reading Ayat ul-Kursi in the morning and night will protect you from harm. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said: “Satan runs away from the house in which Surah Baqarah is recited.”
4. Surah Yaseen
Another best surah for getting better and reading when someone is sick is surah Yaseen. Anas ibn Malik narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said:
“Indeed, for everything, there is a heart, and the Qur’an’s heart is Yasin. Whoever recites Yasin, then for its recitation, Allah writes for him that he recited the Qur’an ten times.”
The surah is of great significance to its reader and should be recited for better health.
5. The four Quls.
The four surahs are called Quls because they all start with the word Qul= قل meaning “Say”.
In the surahs, Allah is telling the prophet to recite the words of the surahs. They are known as the short surahs in the last two pages of the Quran. These four surahs fall among the important surahs to read daily for better health, keeping you protected, and success in life.
The four surahs are:
1. Al-Kafirun
“Say [O Prophet], “O you disbelievers!
I do not worship what you worship.
Nor do you worship what I worship.
I will never worship what you worship.
nor will you ever worship what I worship.
You have your way, and I have my Way.” (Quran)
The message of the surah is to remind us that there is no god but Allah. And that we shouldn’t worship anyone else. The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said:
“’ Idha Zulzilat’ is equal to half of the Quran, Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad is equal to a third of the Quran, and Qul Ya Ayyuhal-Kafirun is equal to a fourth of the Quran.”
2. Al-Ikhlas
Say [O Prophet], “He is Allah—One [and Indivisible];
Allah—the Sustainer [needed by all].
He has never had offspring, nor was He born.
And there is none comparable to Him.” (Quran)
This surah shows us who Allah is. Even though it is a short surah it holds a great reward for its reciter.
The prophet said that reading surah Al-Ikhlas is like reading one-third of the Quran. The prophet used to pray with surah Kafirun and Ikhlas in the optional prayer before Fajr and also in Witr.
“The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) would read in the two Rakahs of the dawn prayer: “Say, O unbelievers” {Surat al-Kafiroon} and “Say: He is Allah, the one {Surat al-Ikhlas}.” [Sunan Abi Dawud 1256]
3. Surah Al-Falaq
Say, [O Prophet], “I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak,
From the evil of whatever He has created, And from the evil of the night when it grows dark,
And from the evil of those [witches casting spells by] blowing onto knots, And from the evil of an envier when they envy.” (Quran)
Surah Falaq protects us against black magic and the evil eye. You should recite it to get better and heals your illness.
4. Surah An-Nas
Say [O Prophet], “I seek refuge in the Lord of humankind,
the Master of humankind,
the God of humankind,
From the evil of the lurking whisperer,
Who whispers into the hearts of humankind,
From among jinn and humankind.” (Quran)
The last two surahs are known as the ‘verses of refuge’. They protect us against evil things when reading them. It protects us from following the wrong path that humans and jinn are leading us to.
