Through Quranic Reading (Recitation)

•  Specify a time for children to read the Quran. Parents must set a daily routine and a schedule for reading and recitation.
• Lead by example: Read the Quran daily so the child will follow.
• Through Quranic and prophetic stories, one can connect and engage the child. Make storytime fun and interactive according to age level.
• Create a love of reading the Quran by rewards and praise. Quran must not become a chore; instead, kids should be encouraged through various methods of appreciation.

Through Memorization (Hifdh)

• At a young age, most children can grasp and memorize with ease. 
• Start memorization with easy verses and gradually introduce more.
• A child can quickly memorize simply by listening and repetition. Keep the Surahs playing in the house, and in no time, the child will have learned it.
• Forcing the child to memorize too much; anything that is beyond their capacity can drive them away.
• Have a reward system in place to encourage and motivate the child.

Through Interpretation (Tafsir)

• Understanding the meanings of the verses is of utmost importance. After all, the Quran was sent as a guide.
• Enrolling kids in Islamic Studies classes, reading easy tafsir books, and Quranic stories will help them understand the meaning.
• Tafsir and explanation of the Quran must be according to appropriate age levels. The idea is for the child to understand the meaning of the Quran and not confuse the child.
• Implement what the child has learned. For example, if your child reads an ayah about charity, encourage the child to give a penny, a dollar a day, or toys in a donation.

Through Supplication and Worship (Dua’ and Salah)

• When parents have a strong Muslim identity, children will follow. Children mimic and copy adults.
