1.     Surah Al-Kahf.

The surah is number 18 in the holy Quran, with 110 verses that carry many lessons for us. In English it is called “the cave”.

It talks about:

  • Faith (the people of the cave)W
  • Wealth (the story of the man who had two beautiful gardens)
  • power (the story of Dhul-Qarnayn)
  • knowledge (the story of Moses and khidr).

“[Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, “Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.”

As you can see, they had a strong faith in Allah, knowing that he is the only one who can help them. And like they did we should do the same. Ask Allah for his guidance and give you the strength to overcome this feeling.

Allah said in the Quran:

Say, “If the sea were ink for [writing] the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even if We brought the like of it as a supplement.”

2.     Surah Ar-Rahman.

Al-Rahman is one of the 99 names of Allah, the surah starts with the word Rahman and then shows us the countless blessings that Allah gave us, and how heaven will be. It’s the surah number 55 with 78 verses.

Allah said in the holy Quran: “The Most Merciful taught the Quran, created man, [and] taught him eloquence.”

Surah Ar-Rahman shows us how many blessings we have in our lives, it talks about the rewards of the believers, what will happen to the disbelievers, and the day of judgment. In this surah, there’s a verse that is repeated 31 times, and it says: “then which of the bounties of your Lord do you both (man and jinn) deny”. 

This verse shows us that no one on earth whether humans or Jinn can deny the many blessings that we were given.

It was narrated that: “The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) went to the companions and recited Surah Rahman but they were all quiet. He told them that he went to the Jinn and recited it to them and they were responsive. And when he would recite the verses ‘And which of the favors of the Lord will you deny’ the jinn would respond ‘There is nothing among your bounties that we can deny, all praises belong to Allah”.

Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said: “Everything has an adornment, and the adornment of Quran is Surah Ar Rahman.”

When you read this surah and read about heaven and the many beautiful things and reward in there you will feel happy and all the stress and anxiety will go away. Reading this surah and learning about the many blessings Allah gave us makes us more thankful and know that Allah can make anything come true.

3.  The Surah Ad-Duha.

This surah was revealed to the prophet when he was going through depression, as the revelation stopped for 6 months and he thought that he did something wrong that made Allah angry with him.

He was losing hope and his people kept making fun of him, even the believers started to question themselves. But one day this surah was revealed to the prophet to comfort him and the believers.

It’s the surah number 93 with only 11 verses, that have the power to give anyone who reads it hope. No matter what happens Allah will get you out of the situation. Therefore, it is one of the best surahs to read for anxiety. 

4. Surah Ash-Sharh

In this Surah Allah says:

“Have We not uplifted your heart for you ˹O Prophet˺,

relieved you of the burden.

which weighed so heavily on your back,.

and elevated your renown for you?

So, surely with hardship comes ease.

Surely with ˹that˺ hardship comes ˹more˺ ease.

So once you have fulfilled ˹your duty˺, strive ˹in devotion˺,

turning to your Lord ˹alone˺ with hope.”

It’s the surah number 94 with only eight verses yet it carries hope and comfort to one’s heart. It was revealed to the holy prophet when he was going through a lot of hardships to comfort him. This surah tells us to turn to Allah and never give in to sadness and distress, whenever there’s darkness, the light will come to erase it all. Reading this surah when feeling anxiety will relieve you and give you peace of mind. 

5.   The Yusuf Surah.

this surah discusses the story of the prophet Yusuf and the hardships he went through. It tells the story of patience, faith, and Iman. The Surah also shows us how Yusuf had faith in Allah no matter what happened to him and how Allah responded to his prayers. It is the surah number 12 in the holy Quran that was revealed to the prophet after the year of sorrow.

The surah was revealed to the prophet to comfort him, and from it, we learn how to deal with life problems and never give up. From the surah, we can see how the prophet Yusuf dealt with sadness, pain, and suffering without giving up to the surrounding circumstances.

Faith in Allah

Prophet Yusuf didn’t lose his faith in Allah even though he went through a lot. His brothers left him in a well, a group of people found him and sold him, then he was imprisoned. At the same time, his father was grieving for losing him, yet he didn’t lose hope in Allah that his son will come back to him once more.

Allah said in the holy Quran: “He said, ‘I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you do not know. O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and despair, not of relief from Allah. Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people.’”

Allah said: “And he raised his parents upon the throne, and they bowed to him in prostration. And he said, ‘O my father, this is the explanation of my vision of before. My Lord has made it reality. And He was certainly good to me when He took me out of prison and brought you [here] from bedouin life after Satan had induced [estrangement] between me and my brothers. Indeed, my Lord is Subtle in what He wills. Indeed, it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise.’”
