  • عَنِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

    Concerning the guilty:
  • مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِى سَقَرَ
    42
    What hath brought you to this burning?
  • قَالُوا۟ لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ
    43
    They will answer: We were not of those who prayed
  • وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ ٱلْمِسْكِينَ
    44
    Nor did we feed the wretched.
  • وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ ٱلْخَآئِضِينَ
    45
    We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders,
  • وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
    46
    And we used to deny the Day of Judgment,
  • حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰنَا ٱلْيَقِينُ
    47
    Till the Inevitable came unto us.
  • فَمَا تَنفَعُهُمْ شَفَٰعَةُ ٱلشَّٰفِعِينَ
    48
    The mediation of no mediators will avail them then.
  • فَمَا لَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلتَّذْكِرَةِ مُعْرِضِينَ
    49
    Why now turn they away from the Admonishment,
  • كَأَنَّهُمْ حُمُرٌۭ مُّسْتَنفِرَةٌۭ
    50
    As they were frightened asses
